The Math Prof who does MathProv

Andrea Young is an Associate Professor of Mathematical Sciences at Ripon College.  She received her Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin and her B.S. in mathematics at Penn State University.  She was the winner of the 2016 Distinguished Teaching Award from the Wisconsin Section of the Mathematical Association of America, and she was a 2011-12 Project NExT fellow.  She is very interested in developing active learning strategies for use in her math courses.  She has used improv games and exercises in college math courses at every level, ranging from remedial to senior capstones.

Andrea has decades of performance experience in both improvised and scripted theater.  She has performed improv in cities around the country and has trained with some of the country’s best improv teachers.  She has also led numerous improv workshops for groups of mathematicians, K-12 teachers, and students.
